I originally heard this on the Grant Green record, “Alive!” and spent many evenings dropping the needle on this tune in the middle of a dance party. But it’s not a song by Grant Green, nor Steppenwolf for that matter, but rather a grooving R&B tune by Don Covay. We stick to an instrumental rendition and alter the arrangement for our harmonica trio context. But when it came time to put it on record, we saw that Hammond B3 in Kid’s living room and had to get him out of the control booth and on to the keys for this recording.
